eloping couple holding hands in front of Loveland Pass Lake in Breckenridge, Colorado

One of the best things about eloping in Colorado is how many easily-accessible spots there are to choose from. Eloping isn’t just for the couples who want to hike all day – eloping is for everyone!

The spots on this list only require a short walk to get to and have well marked trails & paths, and they either have no permits required for smaller group sizes or have a permit system that’s very easy to navigate.

Read on for some of the easiest places to elope in Colorado!

Places to Elope WIthin 1 hour of Denver, Colorado

Downtown Denver

Depending on your vibe, there are plenty of great places to have a city elopement in Denver. Union Station and Larimer Square are classics for that elegant city feel. RiNO and Broadway can give you a more creative and unique backdrop. Not to mention, there’s plenty of bars, hotels, rooftops, arcades, and more to fit your exact flavor of unique city elopement.

Mt. Falcon West

Mt. Falcon West has mountain views, stunning rocky overlooks, and plenty of trails to explore. This area is popular and can be pretty busy at times, but it’s for a good reason. This large park provides a variety of views without needing to hike or drive far from Denver.

Mt. Falcon does require a permit, but it’s actually quite affordable and convenient to obtain.

Genessee Mountain

Genessee Mountain provides gorgeous meadow-vibes for your elopement. There is a large, open field only a quick walk from the parking lot (great for including guests). Plus there is a short trail up the mountain with more great views. This location is also close to The Pines at Genessee for anyone wanting to have a more formal reception after their elopement ceremony.

Red Rocks Park

Even though Red Rocks Park is full of red rocks (duh), there’s actually plenty of variety here! There’s plenty of wildflowers and long grass in the summer, the rock formations vary quite a bit on each of the different trails, you’ll have mountain views behind you, and there’s large open meadows as well. The best part, all these views are just a short walk or drive from each other! And it’s the perfect place to catch a concert after your ceremony!!

There is no permit required to elope in the park for groups of less than 5 people. However, there is a permit required if you’d like photos at Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Lookout Mountain

Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO gives you access to stunning overlooks with all-around mountain views. It’s perfect for smaller elopements with up to 10 guests as many of the overlooks are tight spaces. Lookout Mountain is also close to many great venues for your reception including Boettcher Mansion and The Buffalo Rose.

Loveland Pass

Loveland Pass is one of my absolute favorite spots for elopements. Located in Summit County near Breckenridge, this location has plenty of trails to explore, mountain views all-around, multiple lakes, and beautiful foliage year round.

Sapphire Point

Sapphire Point Overlook in Dillon, CO is an easily accessible spot with a reservable ceremony spot & a short trail with gorgeous views of the mountains and Dillon Reservoir. The ceremony space is great for larger groups of up to 30 people.

You can reserve the ceremony space for $120 here. Please note, Sapphire Point is scheduled to be closed from mid-May to June 2, 2025.

Officer’s Gulch

Officer’s Gulch in Breckenridge, CO is a gorgeous lake with aspens, evergreens, and rock formations. There’s a short trail around the lake that provides a variety of views from every angle. This is one of my favorite spots for a post-ceremony picnic and first dance. The lake is usually very peaceful which means stunning reflection photos (like the one above). In the fall you’ll find multiple pockets of aspen trees!

Guanella Pass

Guanella Pass is stunning year round with multiple trails to explore at the summit and all the way down the pass. The summit has incredible 360-views of multiple mountains (including Bierstadt), lakes, and stunning foliage. There are plenty of trails lower down the pass filled with aspen trees, making this a popular spot for leaf-peeping in Colorado.

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO has lots of truly stunning red rock formations and views of Pikes Peak. This location tends to be pretty popular, but there are also plenty of trails to find some more secluded areas for your elopement. There are six reservable areas for larger ceremonies – half of the sites allow up to 25 people, and the other half allow up to 50 people.

Boreas Pass

Boreas Pass in Breckenridge CO has plenty of campsites, trails, and meadows that all make wonderful spots for your elopement. In winter, the pass closes after the first big snow, but you can still walk along the road for stunning views! The pass closes right at the Boreas Pass Trailhead Parking Lot, and from there you have access to cool rock formations, stunning mountain views, and a section of dense evergreens for those forest-y vibes – all within a 15 minutes walk!

Ice Castles at Cripple Creek

The Ice Castles used to be held in Dillon, Colorado every winter but have since moved to Cripple Creek in Colorado Springs as of 2024. This man-made ice location is essentially an ice castle you can walk through! This is a great spot to get stunning, unique views for your elopement, and I recommend pairing it with another more private location in Colorado Springs.

Woodland Park

Woodland Park, CO has one of my favorite VRBOs for elopements and this stunning overlook is only a 10 minute drive from the cabin. This is a perfect space to host your closest family and friends for your intimate wedding or elopement. The VRBO has 8 bedrooms and can sleep up to 23 guests. In the back of the property there is a beautiful space for a ceremony, and there are multiple places to set up an intimate family-table style dinner reception.

Take a look at this full gallery from Cara & Nick’s Woodland Park Elopement to see the property and get some inspo for your intimate wedding!

Clearly there are plenty of well-known and accessible spots in Colorado, and these are only just a few of them. While some of these spots can be relatively private, there is a chance that you won’t have the entire area to yourselves since they can be somewhat popular spots. Luckily, I also know plenty of other spots with stunning views and far less people!

Looking for an elopement location that’s even more private while still being fairly accessible?
